American Manufacturing Is Changing

Over the last few decades, American companies have spent considerable amounts of money offshoring manufacturing capabilities to take advantage of cheap labor overseas. These changes have left the American manufacturing sector hollow, with the majority of the remaining options suitable only for defense manufacturing. This has left new American companies with few domestic options for manufacturing their designs and subsequently getting them tested.

This shift has also led to countries like China spending considerable amounts of money, especially through targeted government investments, to make it harder and harder to compete globally. American companies pursuing profits and cheaper manufacturing are now dependent on these overseas facilities. COVID shutdowns proved how consequential this concentration of manufacturing capabilities is. A global pandemic, regional conflict, and disagreements over trade policies can leave these supply chains vulnerable.

On top of this, on October 29, the FCC announced a phased ban on certain FCC testing labs overseas in countries that do not have reciprocal certification agreements with the United States. With a deadline of December 2028 for companies to onshore or shift testing facilities, there has never been a better opportunity to bring affordable and capable FCC testing capabilities back to the US.

What Exists Now?

There are already a lot of testing facilities, but many lack affordability for small companies simply trying to get their products to market. This is where Kavrous Labs comes in. Kavrous Labs is planning to leverage automation and AI capabilities to make compliance faster and cheaper. This doesn't require investing tens of millions of dollars in LLMs, GPUs, and other resources typically used for AI.

Kavrous Labs will provide consistent and repeatable processes that reduce friction in testing, documentation, and formal compliance processing.

When Will Kavrous Start?

Kavrous Labs will start working on a release plan to make sure that capabilities are released in stages, with proper documentation, transparency, and efficiency. Test labs are capital-intensive due to the required equipment, so scaling will happen as funding is acquired to meet customer needs. Depending on how funding pursuits go, mid-2027 could see the first compliance and testing services come online.

Be sure to visit the Kavrous Labs website to register your intent and needs. This helps with planning to make sure we deploy the most important services first.

Let's change American manufacturing for the better. Let's bring home affordable compliance testing.
